On the 10th and 11th of September, staffing and recruiting experts from around the world came together for two days in London for Bullhornā€™s global conference series, Engage. The conference offered an incredible opportunity to network and learn from some of the industryā€™s brightest minds, and discover how to more effectively engage talent, leadership, and the future of staffing.

This yearā€™s theme was the power of people and as the recruitment industry constantly evolves with advancements in technology, agencies must keep in mind that their most powerful assets are, and always will be humans. Opening Keynote – Karren Brady

The inspiring Baroness Karren Brady CBE kicked off Engage London with a motivation keynote on her career, her experiences as a woman in business, how to get the most out of your team, and what you should prioritise when building a successful career and business.

 

Marketplace Speed Pitch

Bullhorn is all about its open-ecosystem, so itā€™s fitting that at Engage there was an entire exhibit hall dedicated to showcasing off all the incredible partners that can enhance your user experience on the Bullhorn platform. Breakout Sessions

More than 50 speakers spoke throughout the two days at Engage London. The conference had three different breakout session talk tracks for attendees to learn how to engage talent, leadership, and the future of staffing. The Engage tracks featured were a People track, focusing on interpersonal dynamics, talent access and engagement, employee motivation, and the intricacies of customer relationships. A Platform track focused on Bullhorn and Salesforce, and how these two providers work in concert with one another to ensure an incredible customer experience regardless of an agencyā€™s platform of choice. And lastly, a Productivity track because at the end of the day, a recruiterā€™s success is predicated upon their ability to achieve maximal results with minimal investment – of time, of resources, of finances – all while ensuring that client needs are met and top talent is engaged and retained as necessary.

 

Innovation Throwdown

Always a favorite session for attendees, the Innovation Throwdown offers a unique opportunity for Bullhorn developers to bring their ideas to life. This energetic session is a competition between the finalists from Bullhornā€™s Innovation Week, when programmers dedicate themselves to bringing their most creative and inventive product enhancements to life without constraints or limitations.

 

Official Engage London Party

Day one of Engage was capped off with a big party at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel. The Bullhorn stuffed bulls were a huge hit this year amongst partygoers. We hope you got to take one home with you!

Art Papas Keynote

Day two of Engage started off with a compelling keynote from Bullhorn CEO,Ā Art Papas, on the importance of building trust, embracing regulations, and how technological innovations will transform the industry.

 

Women in Recruitment Luncheon

Leah McKelvey,Ā Bullhornā€˜s VP of Global Enterprise Strategy & Operations, led Wednesday’s #womenINrecruitment luncheon with an executive panel of industry veterans, Dinette Koolhaas, VP and Managing Director Kelly EMEA, Persol Kelly Asia Pacific board of directors, and Tara Ricks, Principal at Elite Squared (a former Chair of APSCo and MD at Randstad), about their career journeys in recruitment and lessons learned along the way to set the tone for a candid conversation.

 

Breakout Sessions

Day two of Engage featured a handful of can’t-miss sessions including a panel focused on innovation featuring Petar Divjanovic, DEKRA Arbeit Group; Zaidy Ramirez, K2 Partnering Solutions; Dave Hannah, Capita Resourcing; and moderated by Bullhorn’s Shaun Weise.

 

Dr. Macia Goddard General Session

For the second year in a row, neuroscientist Dr. Marcia Goddard took the stage at Engage London. And for the second year in a row, she blew away attendees, this time with a compelling session focused on the science of stress and why it’s actually a good thing to have in your life.

Jake Lambert Closing Comedy Session

The two-day conference came to a conclusion on Wednesday afternoon with an enjoyable stand-up performance from UK-native comedian, Jake Lambert. Jake fell into a career as a stand-upā€“after gaining a following on Twitter under the pseudonym @LittleLostLad, he decided to put down his iPhone and pick up a microphone, and it has proven to be a great choice.
