The Power of People: Social Media Highlights From Engage Boston 2019

Staffing and recruiting experts from around the world came together for three days in Boston from June 12th through the 14th at Bullhorn’s annual staffing industry conference, Engage. The conference offered an incredible opportunity to network and learn from some of the industry’s brightest minds, and discover how to more effectively engage talent, leadership, and the future of staffing.

This year’s theme was the power of people and as the recruitment industry constantly evolves with advancements in technology, agencies must keep in mind that their most powerful assets are, and always will be humans. Engage Boston Day One Opener

Registration

Attendees were greeted by many friendly faces and a beautiful Engage facade at the registration desk. Check out all the neat pins attendees and speakers received. Some fan favorites were the Lady Leader pin, 20th Year Anniversary pin, Engage Speaker pin, RIX pin, and of course, the Bullhorn Account Manager pins.

Women in Staffing Luncheon

Engage kicked off on Wednesday with a fantastic luncheon discussion about empowering, mentoring and sponsoring women in staffing to grow within their careers. The discussion was led by Leah McKelvey, Bullhorn‘s VP of Global Enterprise Strategy & Operations, Alicia Barker, Chief Operating Officer at Staffing 360 Solutions, Maggie Lower, Chief Marketing Officer at TrueBlue Inc., and Ursula Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Staffing Industry Analysts, and was a major hit with many attendees.

Breakout Sessions

More than 90 speakers spoke throughout the three days at Engage Boston. The conference had eight different breakout session talk tracks for attendees to learn how to engage talent, leadership, and the future of staffing. Engage also featured a Developer, Invenias, Bullhorn Strategy, Salesforce Solutions, and Bullhorn Tips & Tricks track.

Partners – Exhibit Hall

Bullhorn is all about its open-ecosystem, so it’s fitting that at Engage there is an entire exhibit hall dedicated to showcasing the incredible partners that can enhance the user experience on the Bullhorn platform.

Marketplace Speed Pitch

There even was a session where the marketplace partners give an elevator speed pitch to attendees on how their technology can provide cutting-edge apps that set you apart from the pack in engaging the best talent. The marketplace speed pitch is the perfect session to learn how to take advantage of all the solutions within the Bullhorn recruitment ecosystem.

How good was Kendra Cato?! Answer: REALLY good! Bullhorn’s Senior Manager of Enterprise Research and Strategy was an incredible emcee for all three days of Engage, moving the crowd with her inspirational childhood anecdotes.

Tim Sanders Keynote

Wednesday’s opening remarks were topped off with a brilliant keynote on emotional intelligence from Tim Sanders, CEO of Deeper Media, and one of Inc Magazine’s Top 100 Leadership Speakers.

Bleacher Bar

Some attendees got to spend Wednesday evening watching the Boston Red Sox while sharing a few cocktails at the Bleacher Bar, a unique bar situated beneath the bleachers in centerfield at historic Fenway Park.

Under Armour Workout Class

More than 70 brave attendees signed up for the early morning workout class hosted by Under Armour at the Under Armour Brand House in the Prudential Center.

Art Papas Keynote

Day two of Engage started off with a compelling keynote from Bullhorn CEO, Art Papas, on the importance of building trust and how reskilling and innovation can transform the industry.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson Fireside Chat

Earvin “Magic” Johnson, NBA legend, Hall of Famer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, spoke to more than 1,200 attendees on Thursday afternoon on the importance of over-delivering. And he certainly over-delivered. Earvin had the crowd standing on their feet, clapping, cheering, chest-bumping, and even taking selfies with the sports and business legend as his commanding presence wowed the audience for an exciting fireside chat with Mike Restivo, Bullhorn’s Chief Revenue Officer.

Vision for Innovation

Led by Matt Fischer, Bullhorn President and CTO, and Ed Holmes, Bullhorn’s SVP of Workforce & Revenue Cloud, the Bullhorn team delivered another impressive Vision for Innovation presentation showcasing the immediate roadmap and aspirational advancements in the product lineup.

Cheeky Monkey played host to this year’s Bullhorn Engage #MonsterBash party sponsored by Monster. The Monster Mojito and Bullhorn stuffed bull were huge hits amongst partygoers all night! We hope you got to take one home with you.

Innovation Throwdown

Always a favorite session for attendees, the Innovation Throwdown offers a unique opportunity for Bullhorn developers to bring their ideas to life. This energetic session is a competition between the finalists from Bullhorn’s Innovation Week, when programmers dedicate themselves to bringing their most creative and inventive product enhancements to life without constraints or limitations. This year, Tim Merill, Bullhorn’s Director of Product Design, won the competition.

Bullseye Awards

The Third Annual Bullseye Awards for Staffing Innovation honor the people in staffing who have transformed their businesses and the industry at large through innovation and excellence in staffing, leadership, and technology. Hosted by Vinda Souza, VP of Global Communications at Bullhorn, Ursula Williams, COO at SIA, and Leslie Vickrey, Founder and CEO at ClearEdge Marketing, this ceremony celebrated the outstanding accomplishments and people that are bringing the future of staffing to life, today. This year we’ve honed in on the two most important categories for the Power of People: Rising Star in Staffing and Staffing Leader of the Year. Congratulations to the Rising Star of the Year, Ryan Flood, Senior Executive Recruiter at Crawford Thomas Recruiting, and the Staffing Leader of the Year, Bill Murray, Company Leader at MAS Medical Staffing.
